Jamie Vardy is a prolific striker, this will explain the statistics behind his Premier League record status; and how Leicester City’s talisman will return to goalscoring ways soon.

This is a warning to Premier League managers: Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy will soon return to his prolific ways. And, you can ‘take that to the bank’. In addition to the tactical nous required to deal with the clinical striker; defenders must stick to their plan and constantly be on their toes at the top of their game.

This season – in spite of his suspension for a slightly over-the-top challenge, for which he apologised – the 31-year-old has a 50 per cent strike rate: three goals, in six matches. That’s one for every 143 minutes in play.

Recently transferred Leicester City reporter for the Leicester Mercury, James Sharpe, believes that the ex-Fleetwood Town hitman is on the verge of hitting a run of form and not floundering under Claude Puel‘s system and will rediscover his ruthless confidence:

"“A grumbling concern has bubbled up and mutated over time that Vardy is one of the biggest victims of Claude Puel’s style. The Frenchman’s preference for possession, instead of the good old-fashioned lump into the channels at the first opportunity for Vardy to chase, leaves the striker isolated and starves him of chances.“This season, that is simply not true. Vardy has had 17 attempts on goal so far this season. That equates to an attempt every 25.4 minutes. Or 3.5 per game.“Last season – when, remember, he still scored 20 goals – it was one every 45.8 minutes. Even in the title-winning season, when he was one goal shy of sharing the Golden Boot with Harry Kane, he mustered an effort on goal once every 27.3 minutes. Or 3.3 per game.“So far, then, Vardy is having more shots on average per game then when City won the title. Yes, read that again.“Why might that be? It could be down to a number of reasons. James Maddison’s arrival has to be one.”(Via: LCFC Live)"

Those chances from Maddison‘s exquisite conception will soon be converted by the Foxes’ No.9. Kelechi Iheanacho will hopefully benefit his strike partner too; the two have shown a developing footballing telepathy – needed to be a top-flight duo.

Elite stats

Jamie Vardy is a natural-born scorer. Above, Opta show us just how clinical the retired Three Lion really is. Of course, during 2015/16, goals were abundant for the champion; he took home the successive scoring record in an illustrious term.

Occasionally, Vardy does go through a drought following copious amounts of successful finishes. In the season Leicester City won the premiership, he suffered a six-match dry spell in the division. Yet, Vardy netted 65 in 148 Premier League appearances altogether, according to transfermarkt.

This above tweet made Foxes of Leicester chuckle, however, Vardy has a lot to offer anyone striving for the professionalism to improve themselves. Don’t judge a player by his tweets in 2012.

How can the team help him? Well, the technicians in the side – for example, James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira, and if playing, Rachid Ghezzal, Vicente Iborra and Marc Albrighton – can supply those key-passes to slot in their attacker in and around the box.

In the past, Vardy showed a wide repertoire of finishing with either foot: accurate slots, delicate dinks, long-range drives and chips, brave headers – an area in which he is most underrated – as well as sealing the deal with finesse.

If you are somebody whom enjoys Fantasy Premier League, then please, take this recommendation and sign the Leicester City forward for your dream team. It is likely he could be the man to help you to first place in your league before Christmas. Because, mainly, of a run of favourable fixtures upcoming, versus: Cardiff, Burnley, Brighton, Watford and finally, Fulham.

There would be no surprise to also see Vardy score against Arsenal on Monday – he managed three versus the Gunners last campaign – or with aplomb when West Ham visit the King Power Stadium subsequently.
