After a frustrating international break for supporters – not to mention a fruitful one for the Three Lions, Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell – the Premier League is back. This is how Leicester City should line-up at Arsenal:

Thankfully, the Premier League returns on Saturday with Chelsea and Manchester United kicking game-week nine off. Leicester City fans will have to wait until Monday evening for the Foxes’ game versus Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

At present, the North London side sit higher in the division, at their typical fourth position. While, Leicester City are currently tenth; a usual, comfortable top-half placing for the East Midlands club.

Right, enough catch-up, the excitement for the best league in the world’s reappearance is palpable. How will the Foxes line-up? Well, Claude Puel should continue with his possession based playing style transition; however, there are a few alterations in general, and particularly for the Gunners fixture.

Appropriate starting team

Marc Albrighton is a necessary inclusion for this match, it seems. There is a problem defensively at the King Power Stadium and on their travels. Ricardo Pereira deserves his place in the side and it is imperative that he drives forward. Yet, having Albrighton in-front – or behind, in place of Daniel Amartey – is the preferred switch.

James Maddison should not be out on the wing, or left-midfield; whatever you want to call it. Preference there is certainly, with the latest England call-up from Leicester City, in the No.10 role. This leaves either Kelechi Iheanacho or Amartey reduced to substitute.

Aside from that, the prospective team is almost self-explanatory. After recent press conferences, it is predictable that Puel will likely continue fielding the Ghanaian at right-back. Severely struggling captain Wes Morgan is suspended.

Here is the beginning XI we estimate, 4-3-2-1:

Kasper Schmeichel; Ben Chilwell, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Amartey; Wilfred Ndidi, Papy Mendy; Maddison, Ricardo; Iheanacho; Jamie Vardy.

Desirable XI

There simply has to be a way to include Albrighton, play Maddison centrally and have Iheanacho start. Therefore, Foxes of Leicester devised a slight role change for the former Villa winger. In addition, there is a formation tweak; a 4-3-3 suits this arrangement:

Schmeichel; Chilwell, Evans, Maguire, Ricardo; Ndidi, Mendy, Albrighton; Maddison; Iheanacho, Vardy.

Ricardo must attack – when he does so, he needs cover. The already industrious and committed Albrighton can move across or drop deep from his James Miller-style capacity; alleviating pressure from the opposition’s push forward. In turn, the Portuguese can support the Englishman with overlaps, if in possession on the flank.

This system is most effective for the former Norwich City playmaker – his best position. While Vardy, along with his Nigerian colleague, proceed to, correctly, develop a strike partnership.
