Claude Puel leaves the door open for Harvey Barnes’ return to Leicester City. Although, the Frenchman is happy for the successful West Bromwich Albion Loan to continue after the January transfer deadline.

West Bromwich Albion supporters will be inevitably upset to see the fantastic Harvey Barnes leave them; yet, it would be in Leicester City’s best interest to recall the Young Lion at some point. Whether that is in January or July remains to be seen.

Necessity is the deciding factor here. If the Foxes suffer further injuries – in addition to, yet-to-fulfill-potential, Demarai Gray’s short absence – or possibly productivity problems. Although, it seems unlikely: as a strong estimate, the 20-year-old won’t arrive back at the King Power Stadium before the summer.

Birmingham Live recap Claude Puel’s comments on the matter from the recent Arsenal press conference ahead of the Premier League clash Monday:

"“I didn’t take the decision yet. For the moment it is a good opportunity to continue his way, with good intensity, good focus, to find good consistency, to continue to improve.“We will see the next transfer window but I am happy for the moment.“It is not normal priority to come back in the middle of the season. We will see.“If we have a problem in the squad, why not? But with the balance of the squad, lots of possibilities, it would be better for him to continue this way at West Brom.“He is a young player, he is in a good place. He can continue to improve.“We don’t know what can happen in transfer window but my priority is for him to remain.”– Claude Puel"

Clearly, Leicester City have the stance of allowing the Baggies to complete the loan of the extremely promising forward. While, some of the Blue Army question if Barnes could make an impact; others are adamant he can inject a missing effervescence out-wide. Regardless, the player himself expressed a wish to finish his impressive season at the Hawthorns.

Leicester City specialist Leicester Mercury describe the starlet’s form as “outstanding”. However, FoL are not convinced of a fruitful potential comeback this campaign. There are other proven Premier League players in similar positions, like Marc Albrighton and James Maddison; Barnes can also play right-midfield or as a supporting striker.

Rachid Ghezzal is yet to impose himself on the Leicester City team. However, Foxes of Leicester’s friends, DZ Football – an Algerian account – quote Maddison proclaiming the Algeria winger the trickiest player on the club’s roster:

"“Ghezzal has the most tricks at the club. He’s a very skilful player. The fans have only seen glimpses of it so far. You should see his skills in training. He’s a bit like Mahrez the way he carries the ball.”– James Maddison (Via: DZ Football)"

Hopefully, Ghezzal will get more minutes in Puel’s side; and in the meantime, will show the Foxes what they are missing. A search of the former Monaco man on YouTube really shows great ability; albeit in French Ligue 1!

There is still Fousseni Diabate to assess again, if ever; then Gray’s probable reinstatement at the King Power. Not to mention, the fact that Barnes is still young and learning his craft. Maybe it is better to remain in the West Midlands for another seven months for his increased development as a starter. The breakout premiership campaign on ice until 2019/20
