The latest Leicester City injury news ahead of the Round of 16 Carabao Cup match versus Premier League rival Southampton. Which takes place Tuesday, November 27. Including an update on James Maddison’s suspension.

Following the weekend draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City manager Claude Puel reflected that his 10-man side deserved the win. Thanks to the injection of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho second-half, the Foxes still achieved their rightful point.

Next up for Leicester City is Southampton in the Carabao Cup Fourth Round, or its popular, modern title: Round of 16 – teams. Mark Hughes is firmly on the ropes with the Saints so don’t expect the usual wholesale changes – as the former Manchester United forward goes for broke – hopefully supplying a reason to keep his job.

Unfortunately, the Foxes will be without some players for the game. Confirmed by boss Puel and reported by respected injury and recovery insider Ben Dinnery. Whose credits include: Sky Sports, ESPNFC, Telegraph and talkSPORT:

"“Iborra will be assessed ahead of the @Carabao_Cuptie vs Saints after he was forced off on Saturday due to injury. “I need to see my players, to look at their recovery,” Puel said. Maddison must serve a one-match ban following his dismissal, but he is available for GW14. #LCFC“I don’t know for the moment which players we can use against Southampton.” Maguire [knee] and Ghezzal [leg] are ruled out. “The cup is important for this squad, important for the Club.” Amartey could be missing for around four months after undergoing ankle surgery. #LCFC”Via: Ben Dinnery [injury analyst], Twitter"

Therefore, it is easier to predict Leicester City’s starting team in a 4-2-3-1; especially as we are aware Puel is employing a rotational policy in the League Cup:

Danny Ward; Danny Simpson, Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, Christian Fuchs; Papy Mendy, Adrien Silva; Demarai Gray, Shinji Okazaki, Fousseni Diabate; Kelechi Iheanacho.

Expect Okazaki to keep his position in the team versus the Saints. Although isolated against Brighton, the inclusion of Iheanacho fills the natural goalscorer option will support for the Japanese international. The 22-year-old’s overall form in the EFL Cup is incredible: four goals and three assists in eight matches!

However, against the Hornets in the top-flight, Vardy and his Nigerian counterpart will probably lead the line with Okazaki a substitute. Rachid Ghezzal, along with Vicente Iborra, would possibly have begun for Leicester City, if fit.

Hopefully, Harry Maguire will be available for selection for December 1, when Watford visit the King Power Stadium for a premiership clash in the ‘best of the rest’ category. James Maddison will likely slot straight back into the beginning lineup on his re-emergence from the ban.
