Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri thinks “it will be very strange” to come up against his former side Leicester City on Wednesday.

The Italian led Leicester to a historic Premier League triumph before being sacked just nine months later. Despite parting ways in the worst manner possible, the club has remained close to his heart – which he has demonstrated every now and then.

Now, as he faces his beloved Foxes at the Craven Cottage, the former FC Nantes boss has admitted that it will be very strange for him. He would, however, aim for a win nonetheless.

Speaking ahead of the fixture tomorrow, he said:

"“I don’t know, it will be very strange.“Very emotional moment, but it’s okay that is football. It will be a good moment for sure but after, we have to win.”"

Ranieri got off to a terrific start at the helm of Fulham as the Lillywhites beat Southampton 3-2. His side had to taste a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week, but it would encourage him that they didn’t make it easy for the hosts at all.

Which should probably be a warning to Leicester. Claude Puel’s men were outstanding against Watford in the 2-0 win, and they must play with the same tempo, the same desire and the same mindset against Fulham as well.

They get the three points here, and they’d be in a much stronger position going into a period wherein they’ll face Tottenham Hotspur (H), Crystal Palace (A), Chelsea (A) and Manchester City (H).

On the other hand If they drop points, it puts much more mental pressure on them to get something in the subsequent games, which, against the teams they must face, doesn’t always help.
