After another lifeless attacking display without Jamie Vardy in the side, it is time for Claude Puel and Jon Rudkin to get together and sign a world-class striker at Leicester City.

Some people might argue that it is too early to suggest that Leicester need a world-class striker. However, with Jamie Vardy constantly battling a groin injury, Shinji Okazaki getting older and Kelechi Ihenacho misfiring, it would be wise to sign someone.

Vardy is still Leicester’s main man when he is fit, but he will be 32 next season and up against the limit of what his body will be able to do. With a total of five goals in 12 matches this season, the England international is Leicester’s joint-top scorer in the league. What it shows is that the others need to step up their game.

Iheanacho, who has started as a number 10 and striker this term for the Foxes, has struggled to make an impact when given a start. Some of this is down to lack of service – which all of Leicester’s strikers have struggled with at times this season – but he has missed a couple clear-cut chances. In 14 appearances this campaign, he has one goal for the club. At 22, Iheanacho still has time to figure things out, but he may not be given as many opportunities as before.

Finally, Okazaki, Leicester’s third-choice striker this term hasn’t been given much of an opportunity to play at all. While he doesn’t have any goals in the league this term, he always gives you a high level of energy and decent hold-up play. With Iheanacho and Vardy ahead of him in the pecking order, Okazaki will need to seize his chances off the bench if he wants to earn more minutes for City’s first team. Setting up James Maddison against Fulham for the equaliser is a good start towards achieving that.
