Crystal Palace have been dealt a massive blow ahead of their clash against Leicester City this weekend.

The Eagles’ star player Wilfred Zaha will not able to torment the Foxes this time around, as he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against West Ham United and is therefore suspended for this game.

Defender James Tomkins is suspended after his fifth booking as well, meaning that Leicester don’t have one but two very good reasons to be confident of producing a solid display at Selhurst Park.

Palace’s home hasn’t necessarily been a happy hunting ground for Leicester. In four visits to Selhurst since their promotion to the Premier League, only once have the East Midlanders beaten Palace away (0-1). They’ve lost two (2-0; 5-0) and drawn (2-2) another.

Also take note of the fact that Leicester haven’t beaten the Glaziers since the 22nd of October in 2016. They’ve drawn one and been well defeated in the other two by an aggregate of 8-0.

This is why Zaha’s absence will help Claude Puel breathe a rare sigh of relief. The electric winger has scored two and assisted one in his last two appearances against Leicester, and if you happen to watch the highlights from last season, you’ll notice that he contributed much more than the statistics show.

Another one of Leicester’s tormentor, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, won’t be there to trouble the defence this time. If Puel’s side can’t beat them now, they may as well forget about bothering to turn up when the two meet again.
