Leicester City defender fits right into Manchester United, says Dennis Wise
Harry Maguire will “fit straight into the starting eleven at (Manchester) United,” according to former Leicester City player Dennis Wise.
The 25-year old has missed the last five games because of a knee injury sustained in a 1-0 over Cardiff City, though he was back on the bench for the clash against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday.
But being on the bench is enough for Maguire to be a major talking point. Every week, we find at least one pundit rambling on about how a certain Leicester player fits well at another club. This week, Dennis Wise has snapped up his chance to be that person, stating that the former Hull City centre-back can easily slot into the starting XI at Manchester United.
Here’s what he told the Daily Star:
"“They’ve (United) really struggled to find balance in the team.“Jose Mourinho is a proven manager who’s won trophies but at the moment there are a lot of things that aren’t going quite right.“I don’t think that, as individuals, the players are working hard enough this season. They need to start showing some desire to press the opposition and win the ball back.“Defensively he needs to add a couple of players that should be a priority for him in January.“There was speculation about Harry Maguire in the summer – he ended up signing a new contract with Leicester but for me he’d fit straight into the starting eleven at United.“I see him as a better player than both [Victor] Lindelof and [Chris] Smalling.”"
The Red Devils are the most heavily linked club with Maguire – as they are with a lot of other very good players across Europe. They are understood to have submitted a £65 million bid for the England international back in the summer, which was duly rejected by the club.
Would they come back again? You can’t tell. It will depend on what is left of Jose Mourinho’s sanity in the transfer window – this one or/and the next one – and also on whether Jose is there at all. One thing that is certain, however, is that Maguire isn’t here for too long.
He could be off to either side of Manchester, or perhaps to London, where Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are all on their way to the top.
