Carabao Cup tie against Manchester City could decide Claude Puel’s future

You can’t help but think that the next time Claude Puel heads out of the tunnel at the King Power Stadium, he would know that it could well be his last time as well. Unfortunately, he’ll have to fight for his future against not just the best team in England but one of Europe’s finest in Manchester City. It’d be harsh to give him a quarter-final against Pep Guardiola to save his job, but that’s how it is now.

Even if he is given a bit more time to do something, then how many points could he possibly get in the next two months or so is anyone’s guess, simply because of the fixtures that await:

Chelsea (A)

Manchester City (H)

Cardiff City (H)

Everton (A)

Southampton (H)

Wolverhampton Wanderers (A)

Liverpool (A)

Manchester United (H)

Tottenham Hotspur (A)

Leicester will face seven of the league’s current top eight in their next nine fixtures. Even the other two won’t be easy. On current form, Leicester are staring at at least six defeats in the upcoming nine league games. Even if Puel wins the other three, there’s hardly any good being done to the ambitions of the club. A win against the Citizens could surely change a lot of things, though.
