Leicester City will finish in the top ten despite their recent lack of form, says Match of the Day’s Alan Shearer.

The Foxes have won just two of their last ten Premier League games, losing four and drawing just as many. They are now placed 12th in the table, with Brighton and Hove Albion just a point behind them.

While many have chosen to blame Claude Puel for the horrid run, Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer thinks it has got to do more with what the club and its players have had to go through of late.

The 48-year is also confident of a top ten finish for Leicester. Speaking on BBC MOTD, he said:

"“That’s one win in six but that’s very understandable with what the football club has had to go through.“Leicester will finish in the top 10, I’m sure of that.”"

Looking at the next set of fixtures that await, it doesn’t really look like Leicester will be seen in the top ten anytime soon. Puel’s side will face seven of the current top eight in their next nine games, with the other two being Cardiff City (H)  and Southampton (H).

We won’t have been as worried as we currently are had Leicester done better in the previous weeks. The failure to beat Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace is what has led to this situation, and now they have too much to do if they are to come right back into the top half of the table.

And there is too much to do on Tuesday as well, as they face league leaders Manchester City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Tuesday. Could be the last time we see Puel at the King Power Stadium.
