Chelsea duo Andreas Christensen and Alvaro Morata will miss out on the clash against Leicester City on Saturday.

Maurizio Sarri decided to go with Christensen in what was a very strong XI for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against AFC Bournemouth. However, the 22-year old came off with a hamstring problem and will watch from the stands tomorrow afternoon.

Morata, meanwhile, is still not fit, having been brought off with a knee problem in the first half of the UEFA Europa League game against MOL Vidi – whoever they are.

Although Sarri didn’t make any comments about the former Real Madrid striker, he did confirm Christensen’s absence.

"“We have a little problem with Christensen,” Sarri said.“A little injury to his hamstring. The doctor yesterday told me it’s not really very serious, but he’ll need to rest for about a week, I think.“So he rests now for a week and we will miss him for a couple of matches, I think.”"

The defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers did make it look like the wheels may come off at Stamford Bridge, but the 2-0 outclassing of an invincible-looking Manchester City has put many of the doubters back to their bed.

Whereas Sarri’s side will go into the game tomorrow with three wins behind them (City, Brighton and Hove Albion and Bournemouth), Claude Puel’s underwhelming Leicester will have their three consecutive defeats (Tottenham, Crystal Palace and City) worrying them. More worrying will be the fact that three could become five, as the Foxes next face Manchester City.

Jamie Vardy’s return would be a boost for Leicester, as should be the fact the hosts are not perfect. Chelsea have served enough reminders of their weak links, and if Leicester are willing to take a slightly more expressive approach with a few tweaks, then they’ll have their chances to spring a surprise.
