Jamie Vardy has struggled to replicate his goalscoring potency this season, although he is statistically receiving many ‘expected goal’ chances. Now, rather surprisingly, the striker has commented on manager Claude Puel’s tactics not suiting him:

Jamie Vardy has scored five goals in 13 Premier League appearances this season. Not his best tally, but certainly not a terrible return or his worst campaign. Especially when he is integrating into a new system. Consequently, Vardy claims Claude Puel’s Leicester City playing style does not suit him.

This statement comes as little surprise to the Blue Army fans capable of analysing many poor performances this term – from the team and occasionally Vardy himself. In fact, his wife Rebekah liked Instagram posts criticising Puel and the use of her husband in the side. Yet, she is not an expert on football whatsoever so should not publicly endorse criticism of football managers, clubs and players of a team her partner is employed by.

Leicester City’s No.9 speaks out

The striker is the only one us supporters want to hear from on the matter. Subsequently and in a stunning and unexpected move Leicester’s No.9 has spoken out, confirming many fans’ thoughts. In an interview with Sky Sports‘ Rob Dorsett – which the interviewer described as a startling admission – Vardy stated he is attempting to adopt to Puel’s possession style, although it has not suited him:

"Asked if Puel’s possession-based philosophy suits him, Vardy told Sky Sports News: “Does it? No, but is that down to me to adapt to it? Yes.“And obviously the only way I’m going to do that and keep progressing is working hard on the training field.“It does get a bit frustrating [making runs without being found] but we are transitioning into a different style of play.I think we’ve just got to keep working hard on it and eventually it will get us going forward that bit quicker because when we get into attacking positions eventually the ball will get picked out for some of my runs.”– Jamie Vardy(Via: Sky Sports)"

It is admirable of Vardy to commit to change. That progress and growth will of course only benefit his career as first choice attacker, while helping Leicester City football club as always.

Seemingly, Rob Dorsett did not expect the validation from the ex-international. Although what Vardy says is accurate, candid and honest.

Trending. Puel's main issues at LCFC. light

On Vardy’s availability for Saturday’s game at Stamford Bridge, the Frenchman basically said that Leicester City need the former England man’s quality; essentially only at his best. And that the forward’s struggles with injury and suspension this term contribute to his lower scoring. Chelsea and the Foxes kick off at 3pm GMT. Vardy is thought to be fit for selection.
