Manchester City have received a massive injury boost ahead of their fixture against Leicester City.

David Silva, who has been out with injury since his side’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, has returned to first-team training and could start at the King Power Stadium.

Silva’s return couldn’t have been more timely for the English champions; however, for Leicester, this is no less than a really bad news, considering how important the Spaniard is to his side and what he can do when on song.

The 32-year old has five goals and two assists in just 14 Premier League appearances this season, a tally that’s bettered by only one Leicester player, James Maddison (five goals and three assists), who has three more appearances.

Nonetheless, with or without Silva, Leicester will have to produce an even better performance than they did against Chelsea last week to be able to get anything off City.

They’d come to the King Power Stadium knowing fully well if that if they drop points again, then Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table could potentially extend to seven points. In a worst case scenario, City could even fall below Tottenham Hotspur, with just two points separating the two sides now.

All of these possibilities could make City a fair bit jittery, but they could just as easily spark them into life and kickstart a run that only ends with Pep Guardiola retaining the title – no in-betweens. We’ve seen it happen before, haven’t we?
