Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury won’t be sent out on loan in January, Claude Puel has confirmed.

Following the Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Manchester City, Puel didn’t seem to be certain about Choudhury’s future at the King Power Stadium.

However, having seen him play a starring role in the consecutive wins over Chelsea and Manchester City, the Leicester boss has maybe made his mind up about the 21-year old.

Speaking ahead of Cardiff City’s visit on Saturday, he said:

"“I think Hamza has shown good quality, good performances.“If he continue this way, his work, it will be a good thing if he remains with us.”"

Even if he Choudhury does poorly in the upcoming games, he’d still be happily forgiven because of his contribution over the last week or so. He was immense against Chelsea and City, and it won’t be wrong to say that had he not played, then Leicester may not have won.

But that shouldn’t distract us from the fact that every single player has stepped up his game since the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace – which was the lowest point of the season.

Just when everyone thought that Puel was finished at Leicester and that it would take a new manager to lift these players, they have produced three extraordinary displays. Ricardo Pereira, Wes Morgan, Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Wilfred Ndidi have all played far better than they have for a while.

On paper, Leicester now have two relatively easier fixtures against Cardiff and Everton, though these two teams are going to be a good test of whether Puel has learned to adapt – and adapt quickly –  yet. If the Foxes can get another four points here, then a top six finish is definitely a possibility.
