Leicester City are interested in Villareal winger Samuel Chukwueze, according to FootballLive.NG.

The 19-year old is understood to be the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and La Liga giants Atletico Madrid as well. The Rojiblancos are rumoured to have offered €40 million for the winger.

Other clubs’ penchant for him, however, isn’t the only reason why Leicester are going to find it hard to sign the Nigerian. He is rated very highly at Villareal, and they’d be reluctant to sell him at this stage.

Speaking of the FIFA U-17 World Cup winner, Villareal manager Luis Garcia said:

"“I was told about Chukwueze. He’s got speed, spark, he can dribble. He’s a jewel we have to take care of.”"

Well, no one would be against signing a talented winger, but the question here is: Do Leicester even need him? They already have Demarai Gray, Fousseni Diabate, Rachid Ghezzal, James Maddison and Marc Albrighton as their options out wide. If another winger is to be brought in, then it should surely be after selling someone from the current crop.

It would be better if Leicester were to target a striker and a creative central midfielder, as these are the areas where they are short.

Jamie Vardy is back to form and Hamza Choudhury has solved the problems in the middle, but for the way Claude Puel wants the Foxes to play, he needs a striker who is well-rounded, and a midfielder who can find a way through a team has all 11 players behind the ball.

Given the state of the market, it would take a lot of money for the aforementioned additions, but then again, if you’re among the 20 richest clubs of the world, you’ve got to spend like one.
