It is the usual ups and downs competitively for Leicester City this season. Their sometimes erratic form can be forgiven after losing to Cardiff City but beating Chelsea, Manchester City and now the quality, yet more inconsistent Everton.

Ups and downs are a mainstay as a Leicester City fan. Yeah, we all have a moan and think we know better than the experts and former professionals in charge. Yet, the Blue Army always rally behind the team and never wane in their support for the club, despite any fluctuating form.

That staunch attitude was evident during the awful time of loss earlier this season. At the time of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s tragic passing, the Fox family came together as one; the outpouring was as beautiful as the moment contrasted with devastation.

This writer believes this campaign can never be truly assessed following this period, with grief counselling and efforts to support Leicester City players and staff possibly continuing. Naturally this is a process unlikely to be over for some associated with Khun Vichai, if those poor souls ever find closure. Therefore the fact the Foxes have such scalps including Manchester City, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is as astounding as it is impressive.

To perform, compete and triumph at such levels, with all the teammates have endured is testament to the late chairman’s character and vision. The dignified Claude Puel deserved and received plaudits for his conduct and now for his team’s surprising wins. Can he stabilise the erratic form which troubles his Foxes; especially with dark times in the recent past?

Astonishing achievement for Leicester City

To currently be placed 7th in the Premier League is an astonishing achievement for the Frenchman and his squad. However, many bookmakers still have him down as the most likely premiership manager to be relieved of duty. On that subject and the increased speculation this term about his tenure even after the Toffees victory, Puel says:

"“I cannot manage the rumours. There is speculation, I don’t know why, it is not my concern.“My concern is to show my quality. I will defend my team, my squad and the club and I am just a person who serves the club and I would like to continue this way.“I love my squad.”– Claude Puel (Via: LCFC Live)"

We can deduce the 57-year-old is baffled as to why his attempting to correctly overhaul a team in need of tactical renovation would be under the spotlight.

Well, before the famous recent victories this season, Leicester City had some mediocre displays. Most noteworthy is being beaten by Crystal Palace, Everton and Bournemouth. In addition to draws with West Ham, Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham. Disappointing to say the least; as well as seemingly sealing Puel’s fate at one point – regardless of his excellent ideals. Indeed, the top-flight is a ruthless, results based business.

Can consistency come at the East Midlands club?

Just as formerly stated, realising European and cup winning aspirations may be difficult after October’s unforseen disaster emotionally exhausting players. Although, the team stated many times their want to honour Khun Vichai’s legacy by achieving his vision for his beloved club. They can only do this by working hard, playing for one another selflessly and abiding by – what now are – Puel’s proven tactical game plans.

Following the Everton match, Leicester City’s chief said this regarding the varied results and rumours of his future: “Speculation, I cannot have an impact on this. For me, it is to continue my work and I love my squad.” Under interview, Puel often cites quality and professionalism for his team – since the toughest run of fixtures is behind them, maybe now consistency will emerge.
