Christian Fuchs shouldn’t leave Leicester City in January, here’s why
Aston Villa want Christian Fuchs on loan, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham are interested in the former Austrian captain. Yet Fuchs is needed at Leicester City:
A club legend and champion; just as all Leicester City Premier League title winners are. Whatever happens, Christian Fuchs will always be remembered fondly at the King Power Stadium. Not just for a world-class left-foot, being a solid professional, his technical expertise and as a leader of the team – but as a great guy of top-quality character.
Currently the 32-year-old is needed by the Foxes, as it is a necessity to retain at least two experienced, quality Left-backs within a premiership roster. If the first choice left-sided defender Ben Chilwell is injured, there is no other senior available. Especially with Callum Elder on loan at Ipswich Town and not even in the league 25-man squad option.
Yep, sounds pretty obvious once spelled out – unless a decent full-back is lined up for January on loan. Manager Claude Puel stated recently that no significant incoming additions will occur.

In regards to Fuchs’s famously family friendly sense of humour; it is very likely when his contract ends at Leicester in six-months that he may go into media punditry, YouTube comedy or more intensively embedded with his online gaming company, or eSports group, No Fuchs Given; Goal gives us more details on that.
That is, if he doesn’t decide to follow his other dream – to be a kicker in the NFL. Most expect him to go to North America for a twilight MLS career; as his wife is American and he has an apartment in New York.
Have Leicester City received an offer?
This is the Mirror Sport on Aston Villa’s targeting of the ex-Schalke player:
"“Aston Villa have enquired about taking Leicester City’s Christian Fuchs on loan until the end of the season.“Villa are short of cover at left-back and boss Dean Smith has identified the former Austrian international as the man to help the club’s promotion push.”"
Sky Sports quoted Claudio Ranieri’s interest in defenders, naming the Fox in question; the Italian’s response was that he never states the names of his transfer targets. Fulham are particularly inept in defence and could come in for more of ‘Ranieri’s champions’.
Against Crystal Palace in his only start of the premiership campaign, Fuchs was excellent – getting up the field in support of James Maddison brilliantly whilst defending like he was back in his 20s. However, it was a bit different versus Newport County in the FA Cup Third Round defeat on Sunday; the veteran seemed lacklustre and not up to his usual extremely high standards, struggling to cope with fast wingmen.
In all honesty Fuchs won’t be Leicester City’s No.3 again – well, Chilwell has that shirt number but you know what we mean – yet he is adequate cover, and a valuable member of the team for his squad influence, vast experience and affable disposition.
