Leicester City could finally get rid of Adrien Silva – and in some style, too.

According to the Leicester Mercury, the Portuguese could be offered on loan to AS Monaco in a swap deal for midfielder Youri Tielemans – who the Foxes are locked in talks with.

While Leicester aren’t understood to be too much in favour of doing the Ligue 1 side a favour by offering Silva, it is that man Jorge Mendes – the super agent as they call him – who wants a swap deal. Maybe that’s how he will purloin some extra pelf.

Is it not good for Leicester, however, that they get rid of two problems with one transfer? A problem departs in Silva and a midfield solution arrives in Tielemans.

Also, who knows if Silva might return a better player after being coached by Leonardo Jardim? Sometimes, even a brief change of environment can do you a world of good and maybe that’s what the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder needs.

And if it still doesn’t work, he can be offloaded in the summer when it’s easier to get deals over the line.

At least till then, Claude Puel won’t have to worry about giving him enough playing time, and he can completely focus on what lies ahead in the season – which is what is currently required.

Speaking of which, Leicester next play Liverpool at Anfield before hosting Manchester United on Sunday. Followed by that is a trip to the Wembley Stadium to take on a rattled Tottenham Hotspur. Good luck saving your job, Puel.
