Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho is the most unlikely to depart from our list of three. If he does depart a loan would be preferable to Leicester City. How the Nigerian has not scored since September, we cannot tell you! In fact, following a fairly productive, encouraging preseason and a few assists as the campaign got underway, it looked as though he would be firing on 90 per cent of all cylinders at least.

In reality he is half the player we bought. Iheanacho has been ineffective to say the least. It’s not that he’s been missing many easy chances or anything overtly noticeable like that. No, it’s more of a seeming lack of interest, questionable fitness and no desire for months on end. His touch on the ball is also horrendous at present, some points to work on in training – please!

Only a significant incoming striker of the level of Cenk Tosun or Charlie Austin would force the dominoes to fall and Leicester’s existing backup striker to move on loan – it’s extremely unlikely he’ll be sold. He is only 22-years-old, meaning Leicester’s desire will still be to extract the best of him; or to loan in order achieve the latter then reclaim much of his transfer fee in future.

To be honest, Iheanacho may need a long run in a side to fulfill his true potential. Notice we wrote ‘a’ side. Not ‘this’ side; Jamie Vardy is the main man upfront at the King Power and that will not change for a year minimum, unless injury.

Players who’ve left the club include Vicente Iborra – moving permanently to Villarreal in Spain. Cult hero Yohan Benalouane was sold to local rivals and Championship outfit Forest. While Fousseni Diabate’s loan to Turkish club Sivasspor came early in the window.

Callum Elder was always going to leave Leicester City in January as he was not on the premiership roster, similarly to King. We all remember the Aussie’s very productive and successful spells at Wigan Athletic – most notably knocking out Manchester City out of the League Cup. He has joined Ipswich Town on loan.
