Ben Chilwell wants Leicester City supporters to back Claude Puel and his young side. This comes after more boos at the King Power Stadium:

Silence filled the King Power Stadium for a split second as the crowd strain their eyes to see whom the warmed up, readied substitute is; Rachid Ghezzal. Then the Blue Army gaze as the board goes up, expecting to see the illuminated number 24 of Nampalys Mendy.

However, it showed the No.10 – James Maddison, who’s time was up versus Manchester United with 62 gone. Displeased boos fill the air and ears of spectators at the ground, watching on television in pubs and at home.

The overt discontent was because the Leicester fans ultimately wanted Maddison to stay on. Not that they disapprove particularly of Ghezzal – although he has been mediocre since arriving, is taking a good while to settle into the Premier League and isn’t discussed with any patience of judgment, by the majority.

In addition the England squad member was clearly, distinctly unhappy to be hooked with half an hour remaining. His head dropped, upset; apparently without a knock or injury. Should his fitness be in question? Because he rarely plays a full game; and the manoeuvre can’t be tactical every time.

Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell asks for time for the young team

Subsequent to the loss to United, Leicester favourite Ben Chilwell spoke to media. It appears the players are registering the negativity by some supporters, as the England international requests forbearance from the faithful:

"“Of course, him, us, everyone at the training ground are all trying our best. It would be nice if they were patient with us but you can understand they expect results with the quality we’ve got.“It’s a learning curve for us and we are learning and improving. That’s the main thing you have to take from the past few weeks.“If you look at the team now from the team which won the league it’s pretty much a different 11 and it’s a very young squad.“The fans expect results which is understandable but it’s a young team which is learning. We’re not scrapping in a relegation battle.”– Ben Chilwell (Via: Independent)"

While the 22-year-old doesn’t mention another public display of dissatisfaction at the ground as the change was made, it is obvious he refers to it and the slow starts committed by the side. ‘It would be nice if they were patient with us but you can understand they expect results with the quality we’ve got’ – interpretation: good things will come to those who wait.

Positivity and encouragement is what this club needs now; regardless of whether you are ‘Puel in’ or ‘Puel out’. We all want what’s best for the club. The fact that the left-back is a respected, admired player means he could actually be listened to. Of course he doesn’t have to pay to watch the utter rubbish performances we’ve often witnessed at the King Power this campaign.

So it’s likely the loud booing for what is perceived as incorrect switches and the like will end, for the time being. Yet with regards to respecting the Frenchman’s decisions and style, don’t expect miracles. Spurs welcome Leicester on Sunday, here’s how the Foxes should approach the match.
