Revealed: why Adrien Silva had assurances about playing time, but still left
Leicester City boss Claude Puel has revealed the reasons why Adrien Silva left the King Power Stadium in the January transfer window, despite the Portuguese receiving assurances from the Frenchman about playing time:
It is described as something of a coup for Leicester City to land the most highly rated young Belgian international on loan. Surely Leicester City manager Claude Puel’s career long links to the French team and Youri Tielemans’s parent club AS Monaco greased the transfer wheels.
To us Foxes it was no surprise to have another player who has the capacity to reach the level of quality of an Esteban Cambiasso. Because we are aware of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s vision; and the fact that his legacy and aspiration for Leicester City will get carried out as much as humanly possible.
Excellent players are of course the optimum ideal in reaching a consistent European qualification goal. We may have a real gem on our hands with a man who made his Champions League debut at age-16, then played in a World Cup a few years later.

Sadly for the unfortunate Adrien Silva, his time in the East Midlands seems to have been a complete waste for everyone involved. Not to mention those blasted 14 seconds also derailing his, thankfully now restored, international career.
Us Blue Army members didn’t witness what he was capable of; not even really a glimpse. The man certainly could have corrected the Midfield issues experienced in the Foxes side at present.
In fact, on his day Silva is precisely the type of styled player needed to bridge the occasional gap between midfielders-Maddison-attack. Optimism for that catalyst lies now with Tielemans; no pressure, lad.
Why Silva left Leicester City despite assurances from Puel
By consulting the good folk at Leicester Mercury, we discover the reasons for the former Sporting Lisbon player’s departure:
"Now Puel has revealed what took place in those two days as Silva went from being out in the cold at City, to being offered another lifeline under Puel, to eventually ending up in the warmth of the south of France. (Mercury article)Monday:I’m happy for Adrien (Silva) because he can give other attributes and possibilities for the team,” he said“I think it will be an opportunity for Adrien (Silva) to have an opportunity in the second part of the season.”Explanation of Wednesday exit:“I didn’t speak about this situation because it was just speculation at the beginning and I wanted to give my confidence with Adrien.“If he had to remain it was important he remained with good spirit and positive attitude.“I know it was difficult for him without all the game time he wanted, to keep him with the right focus.“For me it was important to keep him or to have another solution for the squad… we kept the good balance for the squad to have this option with a player to bring a different aspect, if we want to play for example with three midfielders.“Adrien with his attributes or Youri could give us this help, but I try to take into consideration the wish of the player and Adrien was unhappy with his lack of the game time.”– Claude Puel"
According to Mirror Sport, both players need to prove they are not damaged after Silva suffered one and a half years of sporting pain. While the 21-year-old’s exit from Monaco comes after a tremendously difficult season in France in which he was named a flop of the campaign. Yet it appears the deal still favours Leicester.
This swapped pair are capable creative midfielders with a plethora of footballing skill, and an abundance of talent. Hopefully both will enjoy successful spells at their loan club; with Leicester City getting Tielemans on a permanent basis in June; and the Portugal man’s vocation ideally reinvigorated too.
