Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has advised the Gunners to buy Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

The Ghanaian international has helped carry forward a rather irritating trend of players and pundits alike exhorting any and every club to sign any and every Leicester player who has been doing well.

He was so impressed by Chilwell’s display in the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur that he decided to upset the complete Leicester fanbase with one tweet while the Foxes were still grafting at Wembley Stadium.

The 27-year old’s tweet read: “Arsenal should buy Chilwell.” Some people went a step further in the replies, suggesting that the North Londoners should buy both Chilwell and Harry Maguire. Imagine the scenes if that actually happens.

It would be a dream come true for Arsenal but for Leicester, it would mean much much more than a nightmare. What’s scary is that the prospect of Maguire and Chilwell leaving in the summer doesn’t seem too far-fetched.

It is not because Leicester are too small a club for them – that has changed since the Premier League title win – but the big six are simply too big, Tottenham Hotspur being an exception, of course.

If, say, Manchester City come calling for Chilwell and Maguire, and they are willing to pay double their current wages, they duo would want to leave – as would most professional footballers.

It is not only about wages but the chance of playing under the world’s best manager in Pep Guardiola and in arguably the world’s best team. Yes, if Leicester appoint someone like Arsene Wenger, then that changes a lot.
