Leicester City future uncertain, says Andy King
Leicester City loanee Andy King is uncertain over his future at the club.
Currently on loan at Derby County, he still has a year left on his Leicester contract, but whether or not will see out that contract is one question that has no answer to it – not now, at least.
King, however, is not interested in finding the answer either. While he’s still contracted to Leicester, he is playing for Derby and has an obligation to do as well as he possibly can to help them in their bid for promotion to the Premier League.
Speaking of the same, he said:
"“That is down to me to see how well I can do between now and the end of the season.“I am still contracted to Leicester, I am still a Leicester player. We don’t know what is going to happen there and we don’t know what is going to happen here between now and the end of the season in terms of performances and where Derby finish, and things like that.“I’m here to do as well as I can and hopefully help get the team promoted, and see what happens in the summer.”"
The former Aston Villa didn’t shy away from admitting that all he wants is to play at the top level – the Premier League – even if that is accomplished with Derby.
"“You always want to play at the highest level you can.“For me, that is obviously playing in the Premier League. Whether that can be with Derby, hopefully if the end of the season goes well, then why not.“The manager has come in and done a really good job. The players are buying into it, it is a good group and good players. You never know what the end of the season is going to hold.”"
Shall he sign for the Rams on a permanent basis, it’ll be the end of a 14-year association with Leicester. Arriving as a 15-year old from Chelsea, King soon made his first-team debut for the Foxes, establishing himself as a mainstay in a side that then plied its trade in the League 1.
Since then, King’s career has only been the stuff of fairytales, with the Wales international winning everything from the League 1 to the Sky Bet Championship and, of course, the Premier league title in 2015/16. Till date, he remains the only player in the Premier League era to have done so.
Truth be told, if Puel were to play him the Premier League, he’d still get more out of King than he has from most of his players.
