Leicester City and a serious lack of fortune is fast becoming a relationship for the ages.

Claude Puel already has 99 problems, and he now has a couple more in the form of James Maddison and Ben Chilwell.

Yes, in an ideal world – the one that doesn’t exist for Leicester – you’d expect the duo to not be a problem at all, but when they get injured, that’s when they become a problem because without them, Puel’s side are a right mess.

And they could be a right mess if Maddison and Chilwell are not fit for the game against Crystal Palace this Saturday – which Puel has confirmed they may not be.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he told:

"“We have Chilwell and Maddison (doubts), and we will make a point tomorrow in training to check. It is not serious but we will see tomorrow”."

Their absence could be huge for Leicester, especially against a team that they haven’t beaten since October 22 in 2016. In four meetings since, the East Midlanders have drawn one and lost the other three by a staggering aggregate of 9-0.

What happens this time is anyone’s guess. While Leicester can’t win a game, Roy Hodgson’s side have consistently blown hot and cold, winning three, drawing three and losing just as many Premier League games since their 1-0 win over the Foxes on December 15.

They’ve also progressed to the quarter-final of the FA Cup after beating Doncaster Rovers by 2-0, so the spirits in the visitors’ camp are certainly going to be very high.

Next. Can Leicester City still become the ‘best of the rest’ in the Premier League?. dark

As for Leicester, God knows what it must be like in the dressing room because no one seems to have a clue anymore.
