A large majority of Leicester City supporters were granted their wish on Sunday, as Foxes boss Claude Puel was relieved of duty at the East Midlands club. Brendan Rodgers is a favourite for the position according to bookies and media. Although, the current Celtic manager is seemingly content.

With no wins in six Premier League outings, a third successive Leicester City manager has been dismissed from his position during the season. Claude Puel heard booing at the final whistle of all of his recent King Power Stadium losses.

One point in that period is not enough, let’s be honest. We can all admire the 57-year-old’s speculative plan of a style switch for the Foxes. However, the transitional nature of his work was ultimately and unfortunately also his undoing.

Some will say Puel was stubborn not to pursue, or fully commit to, the counter-attacking method. Yet try to imagine a flowing passing, possession based Leicester City team which still has the stinging breakaway – and Puel’s notion is still rosy; regardless of its now defunct capacity.

Leicester City look ahead

While highly respected first team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell take control of the squad, per lcfc.com, national media predicts the incoming Foxes chief. Jacky Bonnevey departed from his role as assistant manager, additionally.

Rafa Benitez’s name has been mentioned, along with former Foxes gaffer Nigel Pearson as possible replacements. Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has emerged as a reported leading candidate.

More from Foxes of Leicester

Mirror Sport quoted Celtic boss Rodgers’ firm yet open response, after being asked about the vacancy at Leicester:

"“My job is to concentrate on the football aspect, and that is with Celtic.“I’ve been stood here for two and a half years and I’ve been asked similar questions, my message is always very, very clear, I’m very concentrated on the game.“We’re in really good form and my concentration is fully on getting the three points [against Motherwell].– Brendan Rodgers"

Sky Sports tells us that the man from Northern Ireland is 10/11 favourite with the bookies to succeed the Frenchman at the King Power Stadium:

"“His [Rodgers’] style of football would certainly be welcomed by Foxes fans, who have been ultra-critical of Puel’s approach during his spell at the King Power. Rodgers would ultimately want another crack at a top-four club, and a strong showing with Leicester would help, while there are plenty of exciting young players for him to work with.”Via: Sky Sports"

According to the outlet, Puel’s position became untenable due to poor results. This despite the East Midlands club not wanting to make a managerial change until the summer. Maybe it’ll be then that the Scottish champions are approached formerly for the 46-year-old.

The so called ‘poisonous atmosphere’ – Sky said this after boos continuously ring out at full-time – at the ground on Filbert Way, will not be attractive to any prospective new leader. Though, if the right person is manager, the Blue Army will back them throughout their time in Leicester.
