It was absolutely no shock whatsoever to see Leicester City manager Claude Puel sacked from his job on Sunday. Now joint caretaker boss Mike Stowell speaks on the dismissal of his former colleague.

Claude Puel’s exit from Leicester City was unceremonious, as the mood of a large majority of the faithful had turned against him. Now the Foxes executives must get the next appointment right.

For the moment goalkeeping coach Mike Stowell and first team coach Adam Sadler are joint caretaker managers of the East Midlands club. Stowell gave his first interview as boss on Monday. A daunting press conference

Born in Portsmouth, the 53-year-old played for nine different English League clubs during his 20 year career. You’d imagine he’d be pinching himself as Leicester principal. Yet it’s not the first time the six-feet-two ex-stopper has taken temporary charge at the King Power Stadium, assuming control on four other occasions over the past 12 seasons.

More from Foxes of Leicester

On the Leicester Mercury website, there is a quote on Puel from the ex-goalkeeper’s initial Leicester City press conference:

"“It was sad really. It’s always sad to see a manager leave. He had the club at heart and he brought some good things to this club.”– Mike Stowell"

It’s true: Puel’s scheme was perfect for the club, but his modus operandi took too long in its transitional period. The next permanent gaffer must be a likeable one, with a clear system to play exciting football. Along with hopefully being well-respected and proven. Ensuring a match for the side’s quality and ambition is vital.

Concentration of the former Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper is firmly on the upcoming contest with Brighton & Hove Albion, as you can see above. More can be found at lcfc.com, for example Ben Chilwell is fit and available for the Seagulls clash.
