Former Leicester City boss Claude Puel to return to management soon?
Former Leicester City manager Claude Puel could return to management sooner than expected.
French media outlet L’equipe have reported him to be among the potential candidates to take over at Ligue 1 club Bordeaux.
The Les Girondins recently sacked manager Ricardo Gomes after his side suffered eight defeats in ten games across all competitions – the kind of streak that eventually led to Puel’s sacking in the East Midlands.
Leading the race for the vacant position, however, is another former Leicester boss, Paulo Sousa, who was sacked after just three months at Leicester. It seems Bordeuax really are interested in Leicester managers.
There is no doubt that – as is backed by his records – Ligue 1 will suit Puel more, but whether or not is this the right time for him to accept a job is a major doubt.
He was sacked after Leicester had only one just won of their last nine games in all competitions, drawing one (against Liverpool) and losing seven – including four successive defeats at home for the first time in 19 years.
That sort of a record does take a toll on you and it takes time to freshen up for the next challenge. Puel would obviously not want to take over at another club with the memories of King Power Stadium still haunting him.
Ideally, he should wait until the summer to even consider an offer from any club. That way, he doesn’t have to pick up from where someone left, like he had to do at Leicester after Craig Shakespeare was sacked.
