Kelechi Iheanacho to finally get his call of duty

It will hurt Leicester City fans to mention Kelechi Iheanacho in the same tone as Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani, both of whom were phenomenal failures – although the reasons are up for debate.

Signed up for more than £20 million in the summer of 2017, he has made a mere 57 appearances for the Foxes – and only 26 starts – scoring 10 goals and assisting eight.

At Manchester City, he had 21 goals and eight assists in only four more appearances than he has made at Leicester. Shows there is a problem somewhere, doesn’t it?

You can argue that he hasn’t made the most of his chances, but what you can’t argue is that those chances have been too far and too few in between.

What Iheanacho needs is a proper run in the side, and it is expected that Rodgers will give him that. Jamie Vardy is ageing and it might well be his final season at the King Power Stadium. If the club doesn’t think about replacing him now, when will it?
