Leicester City to attract top players

In the words of Ben Chilwell, Leicester have “one of the biggest managers in the world coming to the club”. He’s not wrong, is he?

Rodgers has a bit of a reputation in Europe, and when Leicester take their shopping bags out this summer, his face is undoubtedly going to have more of an impact than the chequebook.

Could we have expected the same under Puel? Probably not. The Frenchman’s a really good coach but he’s not quite suited to the term “manager”.

Rodgers is a very good manager. He knows what to say to a prospective target. He knows how to sell a project, a skill that’s not dear to too many managers in the world.

Arsene Wenger had the same skill, and that’s how, despite being in his worst phase as a manager, he was able to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in his last season at Arsenal. It’s what top managers can do.
