There’s only one question being asked in the East Midlands these days and that is: How long till Leicester City win a game of football again?

Indeed, after the 2-1 defeat to Watford, there’s a fear that winning a game could become every Leicester fan’s wildest fantasy again despite the optimism that Brendan Rodgers’ appointment brought with it.

If there is one lesson that we learned last week, then it is that Rodgers is no quick fix to the underlying issues. He doesn’t have a magic wand with which to make all of the problems disappear in the space of seconds – if that’s what some thought will happen.

But yes, he is definitely expected to not be as profligate as Claude Puel was on occasions and maximise the potential of the current squad – which includes beating Fulham on Saturday.

History tells us that this is a game tailor-made for Leicester to drop points in, which they did in the reverse fixture by drawing 1-1. Sense, however, would suggest otherwise.

The Cottagers are placed 19th in the Premier League table with just 17 points.

They’ve got the worst defensive record in the division with 65 goals conceded and the fourth worst offensive record with just 27 goals scored. They’ve had three managers this season already – caretaker manager Scott Parker being the third. Eight spots and 18 points is what separates them from their next opponents.

There’s nothing more to say, really – except that Leicester have no excuse to not win this one.

Quotes

"“All games are very difficult to forecast. People will look at chunks of five games and think ‘Right, you can get points here’ but you never know what the other team is going to bring to the game,” said Brendan Rodgers.“Scott [Parker] has come in and Fulham had a good performance last week, so he will want to continue with that this weekend.”"

Next. It’s likely most out-of-contract players will leave Leicester City. dark

Predicted XI

Schmeichel; Chilwell, Maguire, Morgan, Evans, Pereira; Barnes, Tielemans, Ndidi, Maddison; Vardy.
