A late Wes Morgan header snatched all three points for ten-man Leicester City on a dreary afternoon at Turf Moor.

Despite a relatively positive showing in the early stages of the game, Harry Maguire gave the Foxes a mountain to climb, as he saw red just four minutes in.

However, City still offered enough youth and vibrancy to cause a wealth of problems for the Clarets. Encapsulated in the 33rd minute, as James Maddison curled a delicious free-kick past Tom Heaton.

All was not over, though. Sean Dyche’s side were quick to respond, as Dwight McNeil levelled just five minutes later. The 19-year-old’s goal continued the impressive form that has seen him break into the starting XI at Turf Moor this season.

For much of the remaining minutes, Leicester soaked up the constant pressure from the home side, who had very little answer to the well-organised visitors. The second-half introductions of both Christian Fuchs and Nampalys Mendy gave City a boost of experience and competent defensive reinforcements.

Unlike previous away games that were thrown away in the latter stages – see Watford and Wolves – the Foxes managed this game superbly and were rewarded with a late goal, as Youri Tielemans’ deflected cross was nodded home by Wes Morgan in the 90th minute.

Sky Sports named Wilfred Ndidi and Morgan as its joint choices for Man of the Match.

It was a resilient performance overall for Brendan Rodgers’ defence. Although his distribution continued to frustrate, Kasper Schmeichel denied a late Burnley equaliser with a smart save, as the home side frantically searched for a second.

The result takes the Foxes to 10th with just three points between them and 7th place, although Wolves have a game in hand. Next up at the King Power Stadium are Bournemouth.
