Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell is set to leave for Manchester City this summer, a source has confirmed to Foxes of Leicester’s Harneet Singh Sethi.

Chilwell to City is as good as a done deal, with the reasons for the sale not necessarily down to the Citizens’ strong interest or Leicester’s own financial interests.

We understand that there’s more going on behind the scenes which Leicester aren’t happy about, and they are therefore happy to let the 22-year old leave.

The source also told that Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney is who the Foxes are looking to as the replacement for the Manchester bound Chilwell.

Tierney’s move to the King Power Stadium would make a lot of sense, seeing as Brendan Rodgers has already worked with him during his time with the Scottish champions. The 21-year old should have absolutely no problem in adjusting and adapting to the Leicester boss’ system.

Regardless of the replacement, however, Leicester faithful would be disappointed to see the England international leave. Fans do take a lot of pride to have a national star at their club, especially someone like Chilwell, who is destined for big things.

Since last last season till this point, Chilwell has been magnificent to the extent that many didn’t expect. There were times in the previous campaign when he was a source of frustration because of his defensive deficiencies in particular, but he seems to have overcome them.

A transfer to Manchester City is nothing less than what he deserves. And while it’s a win for him, it’s a massive loss for Leicester and Rodgers.
