An insight into the thoughts of James Maddison. Here the usually candid Leicester City playmaker talks about two subjects: England and Brendan Rodgers.

Some would incorrectly suggest that Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is greedy for wanting to represent his country in two tournaments at two levels this summer – he is of course admirably ambitious.

Prospectively the competitions would be the Nations League with the seniors, as well as England’s Under-21 Euro tournament.

To show that determination and willingness to learn is inspiring. In addition to being a kind of inadvertent response to those players who turned down England at any level and were rightly pariahs thereafter. What a privilege it is to be in the Foxes starlet’s position.

While on international duty away from the King Power Stadium the 22-year-old gave the mandatory interviews to the media. The former Norwich man, who will likely be a candidate for a Leicester City Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season, was as honest as ever on assessment.

In the Telegraph is the telling Maddison chat on his flexible England career and new Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers:

"On the Three Lions:“I’m representing my country, I’m happy to do that at any level,” said Maddison, who added that he would “definitely” be keen for a Nations League and Under-21 Euros double-header. “It would be perfect.”“I played as a number eight against Poland,” he said. “I played there for my club in the last few weeks. Wherever Aidy wants me to play, whatever formation. I found myself on the right of a three and I enjoy that role. It’s good to have different roles in your locker.”On Rodgers:“He’s been very good, I feel like I’m in good form and it’s always nice to come to the international break in good form. Training here is just as good a standard as the Premier league.“He’s a top manager and has a great CV. He’s come in, sat everyone down and has a way of playing. He’s been brilliant for the young lads and it’s been really positive.”– James Maddison"

To be frank, if Maddison concentrates fully  on his game for the remainder of this term he would make it very difficult for Gareth Southgate to omit him from the full England squad for the next round of matches.

More from Foxes of Leicester

This campaign the No.10 has provided his teammates with six goal assists, along with netting the same amount in his first year on Filbert Way.

Saturday sees the return of Premier League football following the international hiatus, Leicester and Maddison will entertain Bournemouth in a battle for ‘best of the rest’ in seventh.

Trending. Kelechi Iheanacho should leave LCFC. light

‘Madders’ received a seven (7) as his match rating versus Poland Under-21s from Sky Sports. Yet it was another midfield creative, Manchester City’s Phil Foden, who stole the show for the Young Lions. Foden was named the outlet’s Man of the Match.
