Leicester City interested in £30 million-rated Everton and Arsenal target
Leicester City are interested in signing £30 million-rated Getafe centre-back Djene Dakonam this summer.
Speaking of interest, Everton and Arsenal have their sights set on the 27-year old, too.
The Gunners in particular are understood to be serious in their pursuit of the Togo international. As reported by AS, Arsenal boss Unai Emery watched Dakonam in Getafe’s goalless draw against Valencia a couple weeks back.
He may have been there just to have some fun, but he might as well have been there to actually see Dakonam in action.
And if you’ve seen Arsenal play this season, you would know that they are perhaps a two top-class defenders away from competing for the Premier League title.
While Leicester need more for their ambitions, buying Dakonam would be a good start. The Foxes do have a few options in Wes Morgan, Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu but there is a problem.
Morgan and Evans are not long-term solutions and Soyuncu needs one more season away from the rigours of English football’s top division. Dakonam would therefore be not half-bad.
Also, don’t forget that Harry Maguire could be headed for Manchester United in the summer.
Multiple outlets have reported that the Red Devils are still eager for the 26-year old. To their amusement, Maguire is apparently willing to make a switch, too.
But for the transfer to go through, Leicester would like to have £90 million – and even so, they may not sell. The summer could be very exciting this time around. In fact, more exciting than Leicester under Claude Puel. Sometimes.
