Wes Morgan marks contract extension with another dominant display

For those not sure about the benefit of a contract extension for Wes Morgan, his display yesterday will serve as a good example of what he can still offer. He was comfortably Leicester’s best player on the pitch, not just because of his defensive contribution but offensive as well.

He attempted 64 passes the other day, completing 57 of them at a success rate of 89%. The only time he bettered those numbers was against Watford not too long ago – not to forget he has now netted in consecutive games. What that tells you is that maybe he is finding a different dimension to his game, something that Rodgers talked about as well:

"“You can see the players embracing it. You see Wes Morgan at 35, with real comfort on the ball, playing the ball 15 metres and become a goalscorer. “He is trying to learn, and think of football in a slightly different way, and performing excellently.”"
