Leicester City midfielder subject of Manchester United interest
Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has emerged as a target for Manchester United, according to Belgian outlet HLN.
Tielemans has been instrumental in Leicester’s upturn in form, assisting five times and scoring once in just seven Premier League appearances.
The 21-year old’s performances haven’t just convinced Leicester that going all in for him is well worth it, but they have also caught the interest of United.
Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be interested in the Belgian; however, it’s not clear what are they going to buy the £45 million-rated AS Monaco loanee with – the cheese room or the microbrewery.
Anyway, let’s move on from Spurs. Leicester’s battle for Tielemans is mainly going to be with United despite the pressure that the North Londoners are likely to put in this transfer tussle.
And if United want him, they will definitely get him, even if they have to overpay – because that is what they normally do. What Leicester can do meanwhile is act as quickly as they can, because as per the reports, the Red Devils haven’t entirely made their mind up on whether to move or not.
On the contrary, Leicester are certain that they do want him to be here next season. At least, that is what Brendan Rodgers has said:
"“I can’t worry about that.“He had arrived here just before I came and you can see he’s a top class young talent, but I always have to respect he’s a Monaco player.“I’m sure there will be discussions between the two of us, and we’ll see where their intentions are.“He’s certainly a player that I would love to continue working with.”"
The impact that Tielemans has had, Leicester should really be all over him already. If they play the waiting game, they are destined to end up on the losing side. Big clubs can hijack deals like these pretty quickly.
