Huddersfield Town 1-4 Leicester City: Match report, player ratings
Foxes of Leicester’s match report and player ratings from an entertaining Premier League contest between Leicester City and Huddersfield Town.
A surprise was in store for Leicester City faithful on Saturday afternoon. There was no Harry Maguire in the Huddersfield Town match squad, nor was Jonny Evans included.
We now know through the Leicester Mercury that the Englishman is not present because he‘s been given time off due to the birth of his daughter. While the Northern Irishman’s suffering from a hip injury.
Caglar Soyuncu’s inclusion seemed obvious to everyone once the dust had settled from the initial slight shock of the Turk starting a game. These scenarios made the point of discussions between fans and pundits over which centre-backs should start the clash against the Terriers non pertinent.
However the Wes Morgan/Maguire/Evans debate may become more complicated next weekend: a great performance from Soyuncu means three transforms into four battling for two places in the 4-1-4-1 setup.
Huddersfield Town Vs Leicester City
The first half began tentatively in reality for a game containing one side who are resigned to their fate, and another who are potentially chasing European qualification.
There were no shots after 20 minutes, despite a chance for a Manchester City-esque tap-in for James Maddison that was well intercepted by the Terriers defence. That followed an excellent switch ball from the utterly marvellous Youri Tielemans to Harvey Barnes, the young winger putting in a good, low and hard cross to no avail.

Huddersfield actually had the majority of the possession before Maddison pushed his way into the game. Drawing fouls and yellow cards for his opponents as the Foxes became dominant.
Then the ball broke for Tielemans on the edge of the penalty box and he struck a superbly curled effort into former Leicester City goalkeeper Ben Hamer’s net. Belgian’s starlet controls the Foxes’ flow and tempo from the middle with apparent ease.
The Belgium international breaks up play similarly to Wilfred Ndidi with seemingly less physical effort. Not to mention supplying goals and assists by the bucket load. City need to secure this man’s signature!
Wes Morgan looked solid and sharper as he has done recently. Soyuncu didn’t put a foot wrong in the first half; including a skill move and decent cross from the wing. Defence was adequate to say the least and the forwards now shone. 10 shots to two meant City were bossing at the break. 1-0.
