Preview: Huddersfield Town Vs Leicester City
Leicester City will be raring to go against the relegated Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Whereas the Terriers have nothing to play for except maybe a modicum of pride, Leicester have everything to graft for as the race for the seventh spot heats up.
Currently sitting ninth in the Premier League table with 44 points, the Foxes will have a solid chance of rising two spots to their beloved seventh, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford playing in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend.
Although this is a very easy game regardless of how you look at it, there will be the added pressure of it being a must win.
Leicester play Newcastle United next week, and thereafter, they have trips to West Ham United and Manchester City, and home games against Arsenal and Chelsea.
The last four fixtures all being very-very tough, it is imperative that Brendan Rodgers’ side pick three points at the John Smith’s Stadium today and against Newcastle next week.
They drop points here and they’d make virtually make it impossible for themselves to finish where they want to. So there is pressure.
The way Leicester have been playing of late, however, you would think they should come back to the East Midlands with smiles and a fourth consecutive win.
Main man
Youri Tielemans’ arrival has emboldened this Leicester team. It is easy to say that Rodgers is the main reason why there has been an instant change in form and fortunes, but the Belgian midfielder’s role cannot be overlooked.
No one can entirely dismiss the suggestion that the AS Monaco loanee has been just as important as the manager. Leicester would probably have not won three in three had it not been for Tielemans, simply because they were short of a creative midfielder and it has been hurting them all season.
With Tielemans, it’s a totally different Leicester. They are creating more, controlling more and converting their possession into something substantial more often. Take him out today and see the difference.
Word from the gaffer
"“You can’t go into a Premier League game, if you are any team, and be less than 100%,” said Rodgers.“The results have been difficult for them, they have had a change of manager as well. They have very good players, great qualities and we are wary of that.”"
Predicted XI
Schmeichel; Pereira, Evans, Maguire, Chilwell, Gray, Tielemans, Ndidi, Maddison, Barnes; Vardy.
