Tony Cascarino has advised Arsenal to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison as Aaron Ramsey’s replacement this summer.

Ramsey is set to join Juventus on a free transfer this summer – having already signed a four-year contract – leaving behind a huge void for manager Unai Emery to try and fill.

With his stellar displays every week, the Welshman has further shown that it’ll not be easy for the Gunners to find someone who can have the same impact as him.

However, former Republic of Ireland international Cascarino thinks that in Leicester’s Maddison, Arsenal have the perfect replacement already. In his column for the Times, he wrote:

"“I look at [James] Maddison and I think, ‘Arsenal is your team’.”“The long goal for the north London side is targeting certain players in the summer and Maddison should be the man to replace Aaron Ramsey.“There are not many great No 10s in world football but Arsenal desperately need someone who plays like the Leicester City man.“The problem for No 10s is that most are asked to work without the ball. The role was deemed a luxury in past, their job was to create chances and make a difference in attack. Mesut Özil and Dele Alli are expected to deliver without the ball and to be a defender for their teams too.“You have to be very gifted to do that and nine out of ten gifted players do not want to work without the ball.“Maddison’s work-rate is good and getting better. There is no question about whether he is technical enough for the top flight.”"

Maddison would pretty much slot right into any Premier League team, such is the wealth of the talent that he is blessed with.

You watch him curl a free kick in every now and then and wonder, “Was he really playing in the Championship last season? Is this really his first top flight campaign?!”, such is the level of the football that he has played all season.

With seven goals and six assists in 31 Premier League apperances, the 22-year old has already proven that he has the potential to match the output that is required of a modern day no.10.

And he is someone around whom Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester would be built. Will he stay for the former Liverpool boss to be able to do that is what we don’t know at the moment.

There is no immediate sign of him leaving anytime soon but given the way he is performing, do not be surprised to see a bid.
