Brendan Rodgers wants the Leicester City hierarchy to complete a permanent deal for Youri Tielemans – the best Premier League non-big six player, in Foxes of Leicester’s humble opinion.

Two important pieces of the ever complicated Leicester City puzzle were added recently in Youri Tielemans and Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers is a long-term appointment – as foreseeable as a manager’s longevity ever can be – the Belgian international only joined on a loan deal until May.

Let’s not waste time here – it is absolutely crucial to the European qualification ambition of the East Midlands club to secure the permanent transfer of the 21-year-old. Or someone of his quality; but that alternative option has not been named and would potentially cost more and be older. Not to mention Rodgers’ want to break into sixth position, requiring serious investment.

Tielemans may cost the Foxes a reported £40 million. However, with his exceptional talent, calm play and youthfulness, Foxes of Leicester cannot think of a similarly qualified candidate to run the Northern Irishman’s midfield.

Honestly, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the signature chase is potentially hijacked by a ‘big six’ Premier League outfit. Mainly because this writer fully believes the Belgian international is the best player outside of the top-six domestic teams.

More from Foxes of Leicester

In this week’s Mirror Sport is a report of Rodgers’ plans to capture Tielemans at King Power Stadium:

"‘Brendan Rodgers is urging Leicester to wrap up a £40million deal for Belgian international midfielder Youri Tielemans – before someone else does.‘Rodgers is concerned that Leicester could miss out if they let the player slip out of their grasp while they are in prime position to land him from Monaco.‘Tielemans is receptive to making the move permanent and the one big bargaining tool they have is Adrien Silva, who went to the French club in a loan ‘swap’ deal.‘Silva failed to make any impression at the King Power but has emerged as one of the main players with Monaco.’– Mirror Sport"

In conclusion, if Leicester can get between £15-20m taken off the price of the Monaco man by way of trading Adrien Silva, the deal is even more attractive.
