Leicester City snatch a point through Harvey Barnes’ maiden goal
By Matt Taylor
After a dismal first half, Leicester City rallied to overcome a goal deficit with goals from Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes.
It has been commonplace this season for the Foxes to concede in injury time on the road – see Watford and Wolves – with the exception of Wes Morgan’s magical winner against Burnley.
However, on a day where their slow start could have cost them, Leicester’s second half showing rescued an important point, with three massive clashes with the top six on the horizon.
Jamie Vardy scored City’s first equaliser, with a deft finish at the near post from Ben Chilwell’s whipped cross. It was his ninth in 10 games.
Leicester’s second equaliser came late, but was just reward for their second half exploits. A slide-rule pass from Youri Tielemans allowed Barnes to score his first senior goal for the East Midlands club. Hopefully, the Foxes supporters will be singing “he’s one of our own” for years to come.

Elsewhere, Watford managed a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield, taking them a point ahead of City with a game in hand in seventh place. With such a tough run of fixtures remaining, where all of their opponents have massive prizes still to play for, today is undoubtedly a huge blow to Leicester’s aim of a seventh place Premier League finish, not to mention their European hopes.
Last real Leicester City away day in 2018/19?
With the Foxes’ impending Monday evening trip to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium remaining at the mercy of Sky Sports, it was a satisfying result for the travelling supporters who enjoyed their last proper away day in the glorious sun.
West Ham’s London Stadium is one for the big occasion. A final, perhaps, not a clash between two top-half Premier League teams. Atmosphere is severely hampered by the sparseness between fans at the aesthetically impressive ground, especially in the away end. It was difficult to generate any kind of respectable noise, but the City massive gave it a hell of a go. For more insight go to lcfc.com.
