Foxes of Leicester wanted Harvey Barnes to begin as a substitute for the West Ham game, and the Leicester City starlet rewarded his supporters with an equalising goal.

It was no detraction toward Harvey Barnes’ efforts this campaign, with regard to why Foxes of Leicester wanted the youthful Leicester City forward to begin as a substitute versus West Ham United in Saturday’s draw. No, it was, in fact, to reignite the flame of desire in his heart and to theoretically boost the young man at a time when his opponent will be tiring.

The thing is with elite level starlets is that the mental capacity is occasionally outweighed by their natural and refined talents. This means focus and worry, of making it at the top-level, possibly affects the output and quality of contribution made by certain young professionals.

In this example, Barnes is a proven goalscorer and star of the Championship; yet some adept players cannot fully transition to the Premier League – even if they have all the necessary attributes. FoL speculated that with this player’s aptitude, simply dropping him to the bench may spur a run of form from the 21-year-old.

Surely this plan was always part of Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers’ strategy to claim a point or more at London Stadium. Similarly, this writer believed Barnes’ impact could benefit from an injection into this particular match.

Above you can see the crystal ball’s fruition. In reality anyone with a keen interest in the Foxes or the Premier League could’ve made a comparable prediction. To be fair we can divulge the reasons for the premonition: the Hammers’ left-back Arthur Masuaku is a modern fullback – a great attacker, with less emphasis on defence. And he would be inevitably tiring around the fourth quarter introduction of Barnes.

Additionally Leicester’s No.19 had a  seeming confidence deficiency during matches in which he didn’t score or assist – therefore it was logical to bring on the wingman later in the clash. Hopefully this manoeuvre will lead to a run of form in the remaining three games of 2018/19. Not to mention a great, hardworking preseason for the promising youngster.

Another noteworthy point to convey is many of the Leicester faithful wanted the former West Bromwich Albion winger to be in the starting XI. Consequently to Barnes’ well taken goal and Demarai Gray’s amateurish wastefulness – despite the Birmingham-born man’s supreme natural skill – expect the industrious but slightly lost Marc Albrighton to partner Barnes at the beginning of the Arsenal contest next weekend.

Arsenal are next up for the Foxes. The Gunners are often very difficult opponents for the East Midlands club to conquer. However, rest assured that the Blue Army will be rocking King Power Stadium in loud support as well as encouragement of their team. Following up Saturday’s draw in London with a win would be a fantastic return.
