Leicester City Vs Arsenal: Gunners could be without star striker
Arsenal could be without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for their clash against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium this weekend.
The Gabon international missed the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday after undergoing a sinus procedure, and it is feared that he may have to sit the next one out as well.
If indeed he doesn’t feature, his would be a big blow for Arsenal and just as huge a boost for Leicester as they chase the seventh spot.
The 29-year old has scored 24 goals and assisted seven in 45 appearances across all competitions this season. 19 of those strikes have come in the Premier League, including a match-winning brace against Leicester in a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture.
The pace and movement that he brings to the team, not to forget the partnership that he forms with Alexandre Lacazette, has been vital in whatever little success the Gunners have enjoyed this season. Without him, they are undeniably weak and less potent.
Also, his absence further gives Leicester a reason to believe they can secure a second consecutive win over the North Londoners at home.
Unai Emery’s side would come to the KP Stadium with the overpowering memories of two utterly disastrous defeats to Crystal Palace (3-2) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (3-1).
It has left them with no option but to win their remaining three league games to stand any chance of making it into the top four.
But their away form has been as bad as Islam Slimani in a Leicester shirt.
Not only that, their defending away from home is the stuff of footballing anecdotes about how not to defend. If Brendan Rodgers sets his side up nicely, this Arsenal team is there for the taking.
