Here’s the latest updates as press gathered for the usual pre-match conference before the Arsenal game. Including Leicester City team and injury news.

A loss and a draw followed a great run for Leicester City under Brendan Rodgers of four successive wins in five. Although the trip to London Stadium versus West Ham last Saturday could quite easily have ended in defeat; Harvey Barnes, amongst others, saving the day.

To be fair, this is while the Foxes slide into another transitional period under yet another new boss. This summer is where you’ll most probably see a more drastic overhaul of the roster. Peripheral players, youth and a development squad is always necessary.

Yet, this break of term some of the supposed first team challengers who haven’t quite made the grade will almost certainly move on to new pastures. That is inevitable as Rodgers puts his stamp on the starting XI and the squad at large.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, there’s still the remainder of the campaign to see out. Incredibly, after devastation at a tragic event at King Power Stadium in October 2018, the club is still in with a chance of European competition qualification.

Though the ‘best of the rest’ position of seventh in the Premier League is as tricky to nail down as it is coveted by the division’s ‘inbetweeners’. A particularly difficult consecutive last three contests awaits the Foxes: Arsenal at home; Manchester City away penultimately; and finally in 2018/19, the visit of Chelsea on Filbert Way.

Look above and you’ll see, thankfully, the Foxes have no fresh injury worries for the visit of the Gunners.

Leicester City presser

Rodgers divulged the usual pre-match information to the gathered press prior to the visit of Unai Emery’s outfit on April 28:

"BR on Albrighton, Iheanacho, Gray and Barnes:“Albrighton, Gray and Barnes) have all shown quality, that’s been the nice thing for me to see. Even if they’re not starting, it’s about the 11 that finish, the guys that can make an impact from the bench.“Last week, Harvey came in and made an impact, Kelechi did very well as well. For the modern game now and how you want to change momentum, it’s so important that players from bench do well.“Marc’s not fully fit. He’s only played 65 minutes, but he trains and prepares well and is getting closer to his fitness level.”BR on doing Jurgen Klopp a favour and being his landlord:“It is not a secret (that I’m his landlord). It has been well documented.“I saw that. He is a funny guy. He has been a really good tenant. I don’t need to keep an eye on him. He always pays up on time.”BR on ending season approach:“Until the last whistle goes here against Chelsea, there’s everything to play for. Supporters come to see the team, so you have to give your all.“Each day in training, the players have become better, they’re improving all the time.“Until the final whistle against Chelsea we will be putting it into every game to finish as high as we can.”BR on closing the gap on Arsenal:“Arsenal have been up there for many years. What is important for us if we analyse it and take out the great season they won the title since being back in top flight it is steady progress. That will be the same next year.“Next year we will look to build on that while creating a structure and identity. The players see themselves as being up there in that top six and that is our challenge and is the challenge of other clubs as well.”BR on strengthening squad:“We want players that can make a difference. We have identified a number of areas, but it’s not for here to disclose that.”BR on transfer rumours concerning his players:“It is the modern game, with lots of speculation, but all you can do is keep them focused.”BR on Arsenal and their recent inconsistency:“We are preparing for a very difficult game.”Via Leicester Mercury"

There was naturally many interesting revelations there as usual; with the fact that the gaffer has identified areas to improve the team already, most noteworthy.
