Brendan Rodgers wants Leicester City to play a part in the title race as they face Manchester City on Monday night.

Leicester go to the Etihad Stadium for what has been dubbed as a potential title decider. If Liverpool lose to Newcastle United later tonight, then a win for City would see them retain the title.

However, if the Reds win and the reigning champions don’t, then that would mean that the Premier League title could go to Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp’s side only needing a win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on the final day.

Springing up surprises being Leicester’s wont, there’s a good chance of City being left shocked a couple days from now. And it’s something that Rodgers hasn’t entirely ruled out either.

The Foxes’ boss wants his team to play a part in the title race – whatever that might mean.

"“Naturally the Liverpool supporters will look at it as maybe an opportunity,” he told Sky Sports.“With our current form and how we’ve worked they’ll see it as a possibility and, with the players we have, we can see it as a possibility. With the players we have we know we can score goals (against Manchester City).“For us, we need to be involved and play our part in it. They’re exciting games to be involved in.“It’s one where you have to look after our own house, make sure that’s in order and see what happens after that if the football gods shine on you.”"

No one seems to know what is going to happen when City face Leicester. There is no disputing that Pep Guardiola’s men have looked a bit jittery in recent weeks, may it be in the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur or in the hard fought victory against Burnley by the same margin last week.

On the contrary, Leicester have been flying high, playing like they won’t even fear peak Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.

As Paul Merson rightly said, the East Midlanders are the last team that City would want to face right now, and definitely the one team outside the Big Six that Liverpool would want their title rivals to be playing.
