Danny Simpson and Shinji Okazaki will leave Leicester City at the end of the season, the club has confirmed.

Simpson, who has been at the club since the promotion to the Premier League, was one of the key figures responsible for the title win in 2015/16.

He has made 132 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and putting in unlimited shifts that can never be forgotten by anyone who counts himself as a fan.

It would be harsh to not say the same of Okazaki, who, having arrived in the summer of 2015, quickly established himself as a fan-favourite. Proficient if not especially prolific, the Japan international has always stepped up when called upon with his unparalleled industry and heart.

19 goals and eight assists in 136 appearances may not sound like a lot, but ask a Leicester fan about him and he’ll tell you what Okazaki really means to the club.

From being the oil of the machine to being the machine himself, he has been everything that any fan and any manager would want from a player. That’s what makes a legend. Okazaki is a Leicester legend – as is Simpson. How the two will be missed.

Meanwhile, another Leicester legend, Christian Fuchs, has been handed a contract extension by Brendan Rodgers, meaning that the fans will be able to hopefully see a few more screamers more from the Austrian.

There are a few who would rather have a younger left-back – which might become a necessity if Ben Chilwell leaves – but Fuchs has done well whenever required for someone of his age. Besides, as an experienced player, his leadership, like Wes Morgan, could play a key role next season.
