Steve Nicol would like his former club Liverpool to sign Leicester City galactico James Maddison this summer.

We do already know that every Leicester player is on every Big Six club’s radar. In the scenario that he isn’t, then we’ll always have a Paul Merson or Gary Neville and, in this case, Nicol passing on a wise piece of advice.

So none of this is a surprise. And, well, let us admit it: the Foxes do have a wealth of talent that any club would like to have.

Nicol, though, would like Liverpool to take a few million pounds out of that wealth in the form of Maddison and use it somewhere in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield. Here’s what he said about the midfielder:

"“Klopp’s recent three in the middle of the park for Liverpool, over the last couple of years particularly, has been about gaining possession back, about closing the opposition back, about working really hard and then getting the ball to the front three.“I would love to see a little change in that with somebody like Maddison, who no question has already shown in the Premier League, from the middle of the park, he can open defences up, he can create chances.“I think he will eventually score more goals than he is doing right now. I would love to see this.“It would be a little change in the way that Klopp operated. But I think this would be a great signing.“And do you know what, I’m going to say this is a hit. I would love to see this.”"

Maddison would pretty much slot right into any Premier League team, such is the amount of talent that he is blessed with.

You watch him curl a free kick in every now and then and wonder, “Was he really playing in the Championship last season? Is this really his first top flight campaign?!”, such is the level of the football that he has played all season.

With seven goals and seven assists in 35 Premier League apperances, the 22-year old has already proven that he has the potential to match the output that is required of a modern day no.10.

Next. Shinji Okazaki and Danny Simpson to leave Leicester City. dark

And he is someone around whom Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester would be built. Will he stay for the former Liverpool boss to be able to do that is what we don’t know at the moment.
