If Leicester City are to secure seventh place in next season’s Premier League then Jamie Vardy needs more support or a credible rival, like this one.

Shinji Okazaki has left Leicester City, although he didn’t pose much goal threat he had his uses. Kelechi Iheanacho has failed to finish off an efficient amount in support of the Foxes’ main man up front, Jamie Vardy. Leaving not too many striking options at King Power Stadium.

Manager Brendan Rodgers says he’ll continue to persevere with the floundering Nigerian, whom compounded his own misery with an awful miss at Manchester City which possibly would have interrupted the Premier League title race. Not to mention reigniting his career, as well as boosting his confidence dramatically.

Incidentally there is also a vacant position – well no one has stepped up and solidified it as theirs whatsoever – on the right-wing for Leicester. This writer would prefer Wilfried Zaha as right or left forward rather than Marc Albrighton, or perpetual disappointment Demarai Gray. Harvey Barnes is likely to remain a left-winger. However the starlet is versatile and can suit either side, then the opposite wing can be filled by an incoming player.

Therefore Foxes of Leicester believe that man can and probably should be Zaha, as he is available. Yes the occasional striker and inconsistent wide-man is a volatile professional; though almost all supremely talented pros – he is that, trust us – have some major character, or in this case, performing flaws. Yet class is permanent – excusing cliché.

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha wants a move away from the South London team:

"Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has told the club he wants to leave this summer.Sky Sports News understands Palace are reluctant to sell the winger but he has reiterated his desire to play Champions League football.Zaha, who scored 10 goals in an impressive 2018-19 Premier League campaign, is keen to test himself at the highest level of club football and start regularly challenging for trophies."

No, Leicester City have not attained Champions League football as of next season. Nor have they qualified for the Europa League. But the will and quality exists; adding two or three excellent players will ensure a realistic Foxes challenge for Europe. Maybe the Ivorian can help realise that ambition.

Leicester City may be ‘priced out’

Astoundingly, The Guardian stated in Thursday’s football news that Palace will seek in the region of £80m-£100 million for the widely admired attacker. That is double what they’ll get from any team realistically.

If, and once again it is a big if,  Leicester can offload some of their surplus undesirables – maybe even to Roy Hodgson’s outfit in a swap-plus-cash deal – then Zaha is worth an investment in the £40m-50m range. Minus a fee for, say, Demarai Gray, hypothetically making the price of Zaha dramatically less.

Some will simply propose that these figures are too high for a player who’s provided only 26 finishes and 17 assists in three campaigns at Selhurst Park. Most noteworthy, however, is that 15 of those came in 34 premiership matches in 2018/19.
