LATEST: Pre-season and transfer intention updates for Leicester City
Breaking news from Leicester City Football Club regarding the pre-season schedule. Including a reliable update on transfer intentions.
Be prepared for another rollercoaster summer for Leicester City; perpetuated to some extent by the national and international media, of course. Take it as a complement that the Foxes have such a quality youthful squad that major interest in players from renowned significant clubs is inevitable.
Though it is Leicester, as much as any Big Six side, that is preparing doggedly in order to fulfill the potential, along with the ambition of late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. Yes, the King Power outfit mean business in 2019/20. Foxes of Leicester envisage cup runs and a realistic push for sixth. Whether that division outcome materializes may depend on Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea’s prowess, or lack of.
A promising feeling engulfs Filbert Way, as Leicester Mercury inform us of Rodgers’ pre-season itinerary:
"“Pre-season is all sorted. We go to Evian [French training camp] in the second week and play all the games domestically [at King Power Stadium and elsewhere in England].“We will be based mostly in England. I think it is important to allow the supporters to see the game.“We will be staying local with our games and that allows them to come and see us.“Then we will have one game before the end here at the stadium against foreign opposition.“Then we go. August 10. Come on!”– Brendan Rodgers"
Many supporters will welcome the news of remaining local, as previous off-season ventures have consisted of flying to Europe and United States of America. Those trips, while once in a lifetime journeys to Hollywood and Barcelona for Leicester City Football Club, preceded a particularly poor Premier League season.
It is also infectiously exciting to hear Rodgers’ enthusiasm for the new term: “Come on”, he says gleefully in the quote. The faithful are collectively looking forward to it, this writer can assure you, Brendan.
While the club’s official website, lcfc.com, says:
"– Leicester City to play simultaneous pre-season fixtures against Rotherham United and Stoke City– Both games to take place on Saturday 27 July, with further matches to be confirmed in due course– The 2019/20 Premier League season begins on the weekend of 10/11 AugustThe Foxes will deploy first team squads to both the AESSEAL New York Stadium and the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday 27 July, as Brendan Rodgers seeks to step up the preparation of all playing personnel just two weeks before the start of the new Premier League campaign. The 27 July double-header falls in the midway stage of City’s pre-season fixture schedule, with further matches to be confirmed in due course."
Obviously it is fairly uncommon to play two fixtures at the same time. Therefore Foxes of Leicester suspect all development squad players to be involved. Expect a full roster of first team and reserves fielded, dividing themselves between Stoke and Rochdale.
Leicester City transfer intention
Additionally, LCFC Live provided confirmation that the Foxes will attempt to sign five players this off-season. Not to mention ridding themselves of peripheral players simultaneously. Naturally this is necessary, providing sufficient depth is still retained or obtained.

The Youri Tielemans chase is turning into a saga early on. Not in Riyad Mahrez proportions. Yet it has potential – don’t ‘@’ me – because the national media is swaying quite drastically. Firstly the line was: Tielemans prefers the Foxes to other options; then a u-turn: the Belgian is then not signing. Furthermore there are currently reports at the time of writing, which claim the 21-year-old is East Midlands bound for a club record fee.
The Blue Army will hope the obligatory final pre-season friendly versus European opposition at King Power Stadium is against a team of high stature, such as Real Madrid once again. Maybe Paris Saint-Germain or the like.
