Ian Wright would like to see this Leicester City duo at Arsenal
Arsenal legend Ian Wright would like to see his club sign the Leicester City duo of Ben Chilwell and Youri Tielemans this summer.
Leicester are having to shield themselves from the Premier League’s Big Six as their wealth of talent braces itself for another unwanted and unwelcome foray.
Nearly every day, new rumours and new interviews are emerging wherein Leicester players are the cynosures. The latest among such despicable interviews – at least from the Foxes faithful’s point of view – is Arsenal legend Wright’s.
Speaking to Mirror Football, the striker named Chilwell and Tielemans among the three players that he’d like Unai Emery to bring to the Emirates Stadium.
"“Someone like Ben Chilwell. He is the kind of left-back who is getting better with every game. He’s an England international now. Somebody that I’m sure is going to be sought after.“Then there is Youri Tielemans. He came over from Monaco. He’s on loan at Leicester City and he’s someone that – well there are loads of teams linked with him – but he’s someone that you’d want to have.“And Nicolas Pepe at Lille. That kind of winger with his intensity, pace and skill. Those are the kind of players that are definitely going to improve any team, if I’m totally honest.“And they’re at the age where they are going to be there for a few years. So that’s a dream list if I’m being totally honest.”"
Harry Maguire is being linked with Manchester United and Manchester City. Ben Chilwell is being linked with the English Champions, too. James Maddison is being repeatedly touted as the “ideal signing” for the top six.
Wilfred Ndidi is beginning to feature in the papers. Not to forget, Tielemans is increasingly looking like he’s not coming back to the King Power Stadium.
You can’t help but have the feeling that at least one of these will inevitably leave. The lure of the bigger clubs is such that it’s not easy to overlook them in favour of the East Midlands.
While Leicester are in a position to play hardball regardless of who they are having to deal with, the decision ultimately comes down to the player in question.
Riyad Mahrez is a lost battle – and that still hurts – but the club have hopefully learned some lessons and can manage the transfers better.
